PHOENIX - Police say a man is dead after he was shot by his younger sister early Monday. Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos identified the victim as 22-year-old Manuel Ortiz.
Martos said officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex near 37th Avenue and McDowell around 5:30 a.m. Ortiz was found dead inside the apartment where he lived.
Martos said the man's sister had been playing with a gun and having pictures taken. The weapon accidentally discharged and shot Ortiz.
There were three other people in the apartment and one of them witnessed the shooting.
