Parents detain man after catching him in 15-year-old’s bedroom

HOUSTON -- A 21-year-old is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl he met online. The young man reportedly snuck into the teen girl’s home and into her bedroom.

The teen girl’s mother recalled checking up on her kids before bedtime. She described her reaction when she opened the door to her youngest daughter’s bedroom.

“I walked in the room and turned on the light,” explained the girl’s mother. “He just stands up, and I’m like, oh my god, what are you doing here? He’s like, I’ve got to go. I’m like, no, you’re not going anywhere.”

She said she caught the 21-year-old in the act with her underage daughter.

KHOU 11 News is concealing identities in this story for the teen girl’s protection, but mom wants the expose the young man who she found in her southeast Houston home.

“I told him, you know what I can do to you? I can get my gun and shoot you and nobody’s going to say anything to me because you are in my house,” explained the mother.

While she didn’t hurt him, she wasn’t going to let him sneak back out.

“I was screaming to everyone, come and help because there’s someone in the house,” she added.

The girl’s stepfather went to find out what all the commotion was about. While he was angry, he said his gut told him to detain the guy until police arrived.

“[I put him in a] headlock and almost got him to the point of passing out. I told him, you don’t want it to get any worse, chill and just wait until the cops get here,” said the stepfather.

The young man, later identified as Carlos Narvaez, was booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of sexual assault of a child. He’s being held on $35,000 bail. Records also indicate that he might not be a U.S. citizen.

The girl’s parents said they discovered that the 21-year-old had met their daughter on a social networking site called MocoSpace. They said the two had been communicating for about two weeks.

All along, they thought the teen was just watching movies on her laptop.

“She was having two things at the same time. We come in there and see her, she’s watching a movie,” added the stepfather. “All of a sudden, we’re coming out to this situation -- we’re like what the hell!”

The 15-year-old girl is now grounded indefinitely, and her parents doubt they will allow her to use the internet anytime soon.
